Description
My first attempt at making a photo with "star trails" on a clear frosty night. 30min exposure. Not the best composition, right?.

[q]רעות לוי: וואו.. מגניב. [/q] תודה רבה! :) [q]איך זה יצא ככה?[/q] Clear night with almost no moonlight and other strong lightsources [yes, the moon is a very strong lightsource!] and a 30 minutes long exposure. You of course needs to use a tripod and such a long exposure is only possible with the "bulb" functionality. "bulb" means that the shutter is open as long as the release button is pressed down. Doing this would shake the camera [~ result bad!] and is very boring. Therefor you use a remote release button [think remote control] - in bulb-mode the shutter is opened on the first press and closed on the second press. So what you do is this: place the camera on the tripod and points it towards your star motive [it's so dark that you can't see anything in the viewfinder - just do a bit of trail & errors..], when you are satisfied with the result you put the camera on bulb-mode, press the remote and walks away [e.g. go inside somewhere and drink a big cup of coffee] for about 30min, then you returns to your camera, press the remote again so the shutters shuts and the exposure is done. Now you can hopefully enjoy a pleasing result.. :) [q] עם איזו מצלמה?[/q] Nikon D40, a "old" DSLR from '06 - which can't be beaten if you look at image quality vs. price! The remote release is a cheap Nikon ML-L3 [ www.nikonusa.com ] Any more question just ask - hebrew is fine, i'm just abroad & lazy.. Have Fun! /Yoni
